Revoelution is resident-led. It’s run by a Partnership, open to anyone who lives, works or volunteers in the Revoelution area.
Meetings are once a month and last around two hours. Anyone can attend, but only resident members can vote. Minutes of meetings are available on our Documents page. Partnership members can do as much or as little as they like – but all our current members are active in the community. Our maximum number of Partnership members is 12; there are currently eleven members so there is a place available if you’re interested!
Our Staff
The day-to-day work of the project is carried out by our full-time Project Coordinator and freelance engagement workers (currently five) who are based at the Revoelution Hub. This includes planning and delivering consultations and activities, maintaining good communications with residents (including our newsletters), liaising with our partner organisations and administrative work such as financial reporting.
Revoelution is a community development project – we want the work to be continued by local people beyond the end of the Big Local funding. One of the aims of Revoelution, therefore, is to make the project less reliant upon the staff team so we’re particularly keen to hear from residents who can contribute some extra volunteering time beyond the meetings.
Our Plans
The Big Local funding lasts until December 2025. Big Local was flexible enough to allow Revoelution to work for the benefit of residents without any further specific aims or outcomes. As we move into other areas of funding this is no longer the case; we have to be clear about our priotities and outcomes.
Our priority areas of work are currently:
Health and Wellbeing: the Revoelution Partnership are acutely aware of the impact of social and environment factors on people’s wellbeing. Health statistics are extremely poor in Revoe - it is a priority area for the ICB - and health is therefore our overarching priority. We are running a research project with Lancaster University to determine areas of work that can be most effective in improving residents’ wellbeing and will be seeking funding based on that research.
Young People: supporting young people and raising their aspirations has always been a priority for Revoelution. We have recently (October 2025) become a centre for both the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Arts Award and will be recruiting young people as participants over the coming months.
Community Cohesion: Revoe is Blackpool’s most culturally diverse neighbourhood. We have a significant Romanian Roma community who have arrived fairly recently which has caused some tension, and the mosque is within the Revoelution area. The Partnership have therefore set up a group to plan events and activities to celebrate the diversity of Revoe and help bring communities together.
